A Wife's Role in Marriage

I have to say that Nora's decision is right but not the best one. Yes, she does have the right to educate herself and not to live in lies anymore so she'll have the freedom to express her own mind and emotions. Her decision is proving Torvald that she is a human not a doll, in her statement "…You have never loved me. You have only thought it pleasant to be in love with me" (p. 66), represents how a doll is being love by the owner who chose to dance and dress a doll but no freedom to act the way she wants to act. A wife's role in a marriage is be submissive to her husband but in a fair decision. I truly believe that both knew how they are treating each other. Nora is aware how she is being treated by Torvald and she allowed it, she chose to save her husbands life. Torvald for sure is aware of how he's treating Nora and think of her as birdbrained. They created their own ghost in their marriage. It's pretty obvious that they are lack of communication. Nora said, "…..from the very beginning of our acquaintance we have never exchanged a word on any serious subject". They both need to give space with each other to realize their mistakes but being married they are responsible to work things out together. If truly there's no love for each other anymore then its fair for Nora to leave to remain a respect for Torvald.

Nora should re-think of her impulse decision taking in consideration of her kids situation. It's pretty selfish of her not to realize what could be the effect of leaving her kids. If she truly realized whats lack of her, why would she risk her kids to someone that might treat them the way she was treated by her dad or husband? I'm not a mother myself but as a daughter, I wouldn't want other's arms to take care of me. I can understand that she thinks of herself as childish and if she can't fix herself how can she be a good mother. The lesson she learned from her situation with her dad and husband should be her guide and motivation on how to raise her kids...
