In an increasingly global world, managers must be able to handle diversity effectively. The aim of this assignment is therefore:
To increase the awareness of the impact of national cultures on business. To provide the students with theoretical and practical tools in order to improve their productivity when working and doing business with people from other cultures. To make the students more aware of their personal orientations. To understand the organization structure and its relationship with systems To provide knowledge the relationship of organizational culture with the organizational design. QUESTION:
1. Seek a company from the country you are interested. Diagnose the type of organizational structure the company belongs. a. Mintzberg five different types of organizational structure: 1. Machine bureaucracy
2. Professional bureaucracy
4. Simple or entrepreneurial
2. From the lessons taught in chap 1 and 2, write :
a. Company’s background
b. Types of organization structure. ( refer to no. 1)
c. There are 6 components in organizational structures:
i. Operating core: people who are involved in the production of goods and services ii. Ideology: forms the traditions and beliefs that make one organization distinctly different from another iii. Strategic apex: part of the organization that involved in controlling iv. Support staff: provide support to the organization, which is outside of the operating core v. Middle line: align strategic apex with the operating core vi. Techno structure: people at techno structure design, plan, change or train the operating core Group members are required to choose and write one of the components of which each member is not allowed to write similar component with other members in the group.
