Topics: Cross-cultural communication, Culture, Geert Hofstede Pages: 2 (292 words) Published: May 1, 2013

Merriam-Webster's definition of culture includes a couple of senses relevant to the academic use:

the beliefs, customs, arts, etc., of a particular society, group, place, or time

the set of values, conventions, or social practices associated with a particular field, activity, or societal characteristic

Listed below are some websites that will give you a clear idea of the aspects of culture that you should analyze for your Global Business Culture Analysis (GBCA). It is important to become familiar with these, as the tendency of many students is to launch off on analysis of a country’s history, geography, politics, economics, trade and so-fourth. If you do that, then you miss the objective of this class. Understanding a country’s culture is essential to creating a successful business relationship, and it needs to be analyzed before successful business relations are pursued.
