Pizza Hut is an America restaurant, they plan on
Branching out to Nigeria. They serve different kinds of pizza(pepperoni pizza, chicken pizza etc.) they do not only serve pizza but side dishes like salads, breadsticks, garlic bread etc. Considering they plan on moving business to Nigeria there are factors that should be considered. Pizza Hut can’t just decide to go international, they have to plan and do some research before they do. Just because the finance is there doesn’t not mean the business will be successful overseas, after a while the money will eventually finish due to lack of profit after all the expenses paid for. Some of the things that should be put into consideration when moving a business abroad are culture, socio cultural components and the Hofstede’s four cultural value dimensions. Before moving your business or organisation to another country your research must be done.

2) Culture
Culture is the total of people’s beliefs, regulations, methods, institutions and artifacts that characterize human populations. It is essential that the stakeholders at Pizza hut be familiar with the cultures of the country in which they are opening another branch in, for a business to succeed.

2.1) Culture is very important. It affects every business function. One function it affects is marketing: due to the wide differences in attitudes and values demands that a lot of firms utilise different marketing mixes in different markets. For example in most countries in several advertisement the actor(s) gives a ‘thumbs up’ which usually means ‘good’ in most countries but if you want to market your product in Iran and in your advertisement your actor(s) gives a ‘thumbs up’ then your product would not sell cause it does not mean good in Iran, but is actually an insult . This one way culture affects marketing and so if Pizza Hut wants to go to a new country they have to do their research if not sometime like that will happen to them.

Human Resource management is another way culture can affect a business. The national culture is a major determinant for the evaluation of managers. Most places people are promoted or given jobs by the school they attended, family background and not for their accomplishments. So when Pizza Hut wants to hire employees they need to know how they operate in the country so they will know the qualities they are looking for in the candidates that apply for jobs. The kind of people they employ to work there can affect sales for them so this is very important.

Production and Finance is also influenced by culture. Countries have different attitudes towards authority, some countries believe in the management of seeking advice from the workers in the office while some the decisions are made by only the manager without the consent of the...
