(A). Roles and responsibilities: An effective teacher understands that teaching involves wearing multiple hats to ensure that the school day runs smoothly and all students receive a quality education (Stacy Zeiger, 2000). The roles and responsibilities of a teacher/lecturer can be a complex one. We are charged with ensuring learners gain their qualifications in a manner which is favourable to their own learning needs and those of the awarding bodies. At the ‘Planning and Design’ stage as a lecturer, I play multiple roles. I am also a learner, constantly taking sessions with learners and attending professional development session to learn the latest best practices and strategies for more effective teaching. My planning includes the course syllabus, hand outs, scheme of work, session plans, pass examination questions, assignments and other activities enhance my learners. For example I ensure to arrive at the college on time to pick up my course manual provided by the external body and other materials to be used throughout the course period. My session plan includes different activities which will use to help my learners. For example, for each sessions prepared for my learners I get related pass examination questions for practice as group work, in tutorial or individual. This will enhance my learners understanding and also what kind of questions to be expected in their external examination. In my session plan, I include a ten minutes icebreaker at the appropriate time and given necessary break to learners which will help my learners to relax and interact.
