I think Amazing Grace is a very good classic movie. I’m surprised that I didn’t even got bored watching it. To be honest, I am not really fond of history, but this story is very inspiring. I think the characters acted so well that I was actually indulged to watch it. I wasn’t bored at all and that’s coming from a person who hates history. And even though it’s not about Philippines history, I was actually very interested in it. I never knew William Wilberforce and all the hardships he’s been through to help the Africans achieve freedom from slavery until this very movie. I think it is a very moving film. And I’m also glad that faith was mixed in this film, I think more people can relate. I was really glad that he had met his wife because I think if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t have pursued with his goals.
I am really amazed by his drive to help the Africans since during those times, I believe there are only very few people who have the courage to oppose the government or the “big” people, but he was very brave. He was also surrounded by good people with the same goals as him.
If he was an ordinary person, he would’ve easily given up, but he was different. He almost did but what matters is he was able to pass his bill in the end so I think he lived a very inspiring life. I wish more people would recognize him. All in all If I was a film critic, I’d give amazing grace a 9/10. I think it’s better than all those movies based on history that is only filled with war. William Wilberforce is different; he did everything with his mind and his compassion. And I think not only the Africans should recognize him, I think we all should.
